Yame Nkgowe
Yame Nkgowe is the Founder of Sustainable Cities Africa, a Sustainable City Strategy Service Firm promoting an African context to integrated measurable urban development frameworks.
Yame has strong business management acumen, with over 12 years leading professional service oriented entities through development, operation, and optimisation with specialist focus in place and niche contextualisation and leading multidisciplinary teams towards developing scalable sustainable practices that are growth oriented and make measurable impact in the communities that they serve.
His main focuses are on sustainability practice, ecosystem building, nurturing linkages to impact investing, and various structured mentorship engagements supporting entrepreneurially driven individuals – development or sustainability professionals and (social) entrepreneurs; acting as a sounding board to imagine new possibilities or critically looking at underlying assumptions to make compelling shared value propositions for organic growth, and sustainable operation.
He is presently part of a global consortium of interdisciplinary experts who have been successfully awarded technical assistance support through the Global SouthPole/EIT Climate KIC City Finance Lab 2021 to deliver a design pilot linking city climate ambition and evidence of climate action to appropriate climate finance.
He volunteers his time in various pan-African forums e.g. African Circular Economy Network, African Circular Economy Research Group, and providing technical advisory towards the design of a Global Compact Local Network for Botswana.
