Christopher Whaley

Christopher Whaley is a senior civil servant at the UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs where he is Head of International. His current work includes the post-2015 development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals; the UK’s International Climate Fund; international forestry; finance for the environment, including replenishment of the Global Environment Facility (GEF); and environmental governance.
Prior to rejoining the civil service in 2006, Christopher Whaley worked in the US as Counsellor for Science, Technology, Energy and Environment at the British Embassy in Washington DC, as Secretary to the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel to the GEF, and as a Visiting Fellow at the World Resources Institute. He was the Chairman of the SEED Board from February 2011 to March 2013.
