SunSawang’s core business is based on a fee-for-service model. Instead of merely providing electricity-generating products, SunSawang also provides complementary maintenance and repair services. Customers sign-up for a combined product and service contract and pay in affordable instalments which makes solar system financially accessible to lower income households.
SunSawang empowers the rural poor through employment and skill building. Sales representatives and technicians are hired and trained locally to provide routine maintenance services and sell lanterns, door-to-door.
- Improving the living conditions of 8,700 rural villagers by reducing risk of fire and attaining better health as a result of solar energy
- Promoting productivity and children learning as the solar lantern makes working and studying at night possible
