Kusini Water
Kusini water is a social enterprise that works with local companies to get off the municipal water grid. Kusini water uses locally sourced macadamia nut shells that would otherwise be waste. Kusini filters are low pressure and low energy, meaning that they use solar power at large scale and zero grid electricity.
Kusini uses locally sourced material. The organisation is innovative not only in the way it purifies water, but also through its decentralising treatment that ensures a more local distribution of water. Kusini systems produce more water while using less energy than comparable practices.

- Electricity constitutes up to 60% of operating costs for water production, by using solar and gravity feed. The main target is to reduce greenhouse gases and water pollution caused by coal-fired stations. Kusini is able to measure the amount of water produced on renewable energy.
