Kasenga Agro Solutions

Organic honey blended with Moringa, peanut butter, and others
2023 SEED Climate Adaptation Award Sustainable Agriculture Zambia

Kasenga Agro Solutions produces raw organic honey and unique varieties blended with Moringa and peanut butter for the retail market. Other customers are large outlets such as Peza Foods, cafes, and supermarkets. A part of the enterprise's mission is to raise awareness of nature conservation by promoting organic fertilisers and reforestation practices.

The enterprise runs an out-grower business model by recruiting women in the rural communities in the Chongwe district who are trained in beekeeping, honey production, and sustainable forest management.

Eco-Inclusive Impacts

Kasenga Agro Solutions reduces the community’s vulnerability to climate change by training to women charcoal traders and small-scale farmers to focus on sustainable forest management and honey production.

Kasenga Agro Solutions has already distributed 125 beehives to trained women farmers; now, 10% of them can afford tertiary fees for their children. They have also planted 2,000 trees, reducing 64 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per annum and achieving a beehive occupancy of 30%.

Kasenga Agro Solutions operations also generate income through the employment of farmers in rural communities while increasing household incomes.
