Since the beginning of the SEED Starter workshops, our enterprise support coach from SEED has been immensely supportive every step of the way. SEED's invaluable technical support is what has gotten Ecocare from ideation through prototyping to a market launch.

SEED enabled me to get inspired to set up this enterprise in the first place - and that means a lot to me.

After the SEED Starter workshop, I got the opportunity to be selected to participate in the UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Denmark, thanks to the nomination by SEED. Ecocare was even selected as a case study for ideation in the SDG 12 track!

EcoCare Waste Initiatives is a recycling company with the mission of challenging existing wasteful paradigms and the throw-away culture by giving value to waste while advocating against waste generation.

The company aims at solving Ghana’s waste handling challenge with an unconventional waste management approach – by exploring socially, environmentally and economically impactful business models.

EcoCare is currently registered as a social enterprise with the key focus on education against indiscriminate waste disposal. It is also committed to providing distribution channels for recyclable waste materials and reducing pressure on landfills with the overarching goal of being an active driver of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 12 and 13.

Reducing environmental waste and empowering local communities through technical and entrepreneurial skills training.

Reducing environmental waste by running a design thinking centre for research and development of waste reduction strategies.
Promoting environmentally-responsible waste management campaigns.

Training clients on recycling and upcycling techniques.
Supporting local communities through job creation and access to environmentally-sustainable products and services.

Enabling clients to generate revenue from value-added upcycled products after benefiting from technical and entrepreneurial training.
Strengthening the economy with job creation and product sales.

This enterprise is supported through its partnerships with various stakeholders, ranging from national and international organisations, investors, research institutes, suppliers, governmental bodies, NGOs, other social and environmental enterprises and more.

The Ghana Think Foundation provided Ecocare Waste Initiative with mentorship as well as a platform for promotion and networking through the Ghana Youth Social Entrepreneurship Programme (GYSEP).
