Clinela provides medical lighting Solar Bags for off-grid communities
Clinela provides the Solar Bag on a lease-to-own-payment model with a monthly subscription of 60 USD for a period of 24 months. Clinela Solar Bags are designed as a safe, easy-to-use, rugged solar technology for health workers in challenging environments enabling them to save the lives of babies and mothers.
The Solar Bag aims to decrease complications during childbirth by introducing safe and reliable lighting, fetal monitoring and mobile communication for referrals and consultations, improving the safety and morale of midwives and doctors.
Makerere’s University Business School Entrepreneurship Department provides training, mentorship and support in implementing the project.
Ashoka is the world’s largest association of Social Entrepreneurs. Clinela Solar Bag is one of the changemakers under its American Express Leadership Academy (AMEX) Emerging Innovators program.
