Artyteb

Producing hydroponic horticultural crops
2022 SEED Starter Team Sustainable Agriculture Botswana

Artyteb offers hydroponic horticultural produce (growing crops without soil in a controlled environment using the nutrient film technique), mainly leafy greens and herbs at the highest quality possible. These are produced at the urban farm and sold to restaurants and hotels around the Ngami-land region that use the produce as ingredients as they prepare meals of high standard and quality for their guests. The overall goal is to become the biggest commercial hydroponic farm, the first of its kind in Botswana.

Eco-Inclusive Impacts

Protecting the environment by not using chemicals for pest control.

  • The enterprise does not use chemicals and therefore does not pollute the environment.
  • The enterprise engages the community either as contractors or as consultants.
  • As food security is a top priority of the government, the crops help reduce the need for imports.
