Adapta Sertão has grown out of the Pintadas Solar project in Brazil. This was a SEED Awardee in 2008, the third year of the SEED Awards and was one of just 5 winners, from a field of about 400 applicants.

The initiative sets out to help small farmers communities to adapt to climate change, improve local food security, mitigate their own carbon emissions, and reduce poverty by increasing income and creating local employment opportunities.
