Process waste plastics into durable Ecopoles and Ecofloor tiles
2019 SEED Low Carbon Award Waste Management Ibanda, Uganda

EcoPlastile works with youth and women to collect and process waste plastics into durable Ecopoles, plastic lumbers and Ecofloor tiles that substitute wooden timbers and unsanitary dirty floors. The products are low cost and durable, and help to eliminate plastic pollution and sanitary issues.

EcoPlastile generates revenue from sales, and communities benefit from waste management alternatives such as ‘Waste Medical Insurance’, a medical insurance provided in exchange for the provision of plastic waste.

Eco-Inclusive Impacts

EcoPlastile reduces deforestation and the burning of plastic waste as well as reducing the cost of constructing safe and clean living spaces.
  • Establishing “Girls4Waste Scholarship” to support young women leaders to have a stake in the green economy.
  • Launching “Waste Medical Insurance” to provide medical services in exchange for wastefor low income households in slums.
  • Creating over 50 direct & 100 indirect jobs for marginalized youth and women.
  • Withdrawing over 360 metric tonnes of plastic waste through enterprise operations.
  • Reducing deforestation by introducing recycled plastic as an alternative to wooden timbers.
  • Preventing over 2.5mil kg carbon emissions that would have resulted from the burning of plastics in landfills.

  • Generating over $2,500 for youth and women who supply plastic waste.
  • Creating savings by reducing the cost of construction of safe and clean living spaces.
  • Increasing revenue and widespread use of recycled plastics through increased orders from parks and construction companies.
