Case Study: Provokame
Empowering vulnerable women and combating climate change
Founded in 2010 in Cali, the Provokame enterprise was looking to design a zero-waste and environmentally-friendly product to replace the more common plastic and polystyrene equivalents. Provokame now produces biodegradable plates out of natural fibre and seeds and recycles paper; this reduces pollution from polymer plates and decreases greenhouse gas emissions. By working at the grassroots, Provokame has provided over 100 vulnerable women with a job and income while raising awareness around sustainable production and consumption in the community.
