SEED, in partnership with Emerging Livelihoods, successfully delivered two Training of Trainers workshops in Malawi during November and December 2025, equipping business coaches with enhanced skills to support climate-smart agricultural enterprises across the country.

Building Capacity in Mzuzu

The first workshop took place from 25 to 27 November 2025 in Mzuzu, bringing together experienced business coaches deeply invested in their communities. Participants worked through practical tools for supporting climate-smart agripreneurs, covering essential areas including business planning, resilience building, and funding strategies.

A key focus of the Mzuzu workshop was prototyping methodology. The facilitator introduced participants to various prototyping concepts, including storyboards, wireframes, and customer journey mapping. Using creative materials, participants developed their own prototypes, gaining hands-on experience they can now apply when supporting entrepreneurs in their regions.

The workshop benefited from the wealth of experience in the room, with participants actively challenging ideas, adapting approaches, and refining the tools presented to better suit local contexts.

Advancing Skills in Kasungu

The second workshop, held from 9 to 11 December 2025 in Kasungu District, continued the BDS+ Training of Trainers programme focused on Climate-Smart Agriculture Enterprise Incubation.

Participants advanced their knowledge and practical skills across multiple areas critical to agribusiness development, including climate-smart business plan development, value proposition building, value chain analysis, marketing strategies, financial planning and management, and impact monitoring.

The facilitator emphasised the importance of maintaining a holistic view across entire value chains to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Participants applied this learning by developing assessments based on case studies relevant to their work.

Creating Lasting Connections

The Kasungu workshop concluded with a networking session designed to foster ongoing collaboration among participants. Business coaches presented their professional profiles and mapped their areas of specialisation, the support services they offer, and areas where they seek collaboration. This exercise created opportunities for partnerships extending well beyond the workshop itself.

Looking Ahead

The knowledge and facilitation skills gained through both workshops will directly benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises and stakeholders across Malawian communities. Equipped with enhanced capabilities, these business coaches are now positioned to deliver more practical, results-oriented enterprise support to climate-smart agripreneurs throughout the country.

SEED and Emerging Livelihoods remain committed to strengthening the ecosystem of support for sustainable agricultural entrepreneurship in Malawi.
